Tessellation Project 2nd Draft 10/10/14
How I made my tessellation tile
Tessellation Tile Reflection
What was the idea/theme behind your idea?
The idea behind my tessellation is to have a bird theme. I had seen many tessellation that followed an animal theme, so I decided to create an un realistic bird theme due to my lack in art skills. I wanted to make a bird that overlapped itself making an optical illusion in a sort of way.
What polygons did you start with and how did you alter it?
I started with a rectangle in the beginning shape. I decided to alter the shape in a diagonal way that fit the shapes diagonally going up the page. So I started constructing an the shape of a bird.
What transformations describe how your pre-image tile moved to create your two image tiles?
It moved because the two shapes fit on top of each other creating a diagonal move with the shapes.
In your opinion are tessellations math or art? In my opinion tessellations can be an aspect of both math and art, I believe the way your mind perceives the tessellation can be related to math. For example the way each and every shape fits perfectly into one another, however, I believe that art is a key part in creating a tessellation because the creation of something that looks good will be followed with art.
