Honey Bee - Project Reflection
Honey Bees are very important because they are the main source of pollination in many different valuable agricultural products. The importance in honey bees comes from many different things for example, Soybeans, almonds, apples, oranges, and peaches. We have now become very dependent on their reproduction and look forward to all pollination. Now that we are dependent on honeybees for a variety of production theirs lives and reproduction have become a major concern. They are dying off and diseases like colony collapse disorder are becoming more vulnerable to the colonies raising major concern.
For this project I chose to focus on Colony Collapse disorder for my main research. I learned that colony collapse disorder is a major concern and that it is very crucial to find the cause of the disease. Within my research I found that the cause to this has become very general and scientists are struggling to pinpoint the main cause. I made my own assumption to the cause being that the beekeepers are using very dangerous pesticides that may cause harm to a large population of the honey bees. For my exhibition piece I chose to focus on beeswax and making beeswax lip balm out of the wax provided by Colleen. Ultimately, I was most proud of the final product that I created at home. I made peppermint beeswax lip balm and was able to display it at exhibition. I truly feel like i would not have done anything different for this project.

Honey Bee - Research Notes
Cat Dissection - Project Reflection
For the Dissection project I chose to explore the cat. I was very intrigued to learn about cats because they are so similar to the anatomy of the human body. I also have always thought it would be very interesting to become a veterinarian, with the help of Geoffrey Steiner's mom our group was able to develop an overall understanding of the anatomy of a cat. Throughout this project I continued to build my knowledge on specifically, the gallbladder, lungs, brain, small and large intestines, bladder, esophagus, trachea and their basic purposes. I was able to demonstrate a dissection while recognizing the entire anatomy of a cat. During the dissection process I learned that I no longer face the interest of being a veterinarian. I struggled handling the body parts and had a hard time cooperating with the disgust of the dead body.
Crime Scene Investigation Project 11/4/14
Project Summary
During this project, we learned how the law enforcements in our community uses evidence to best support a crime. We learned about different ways a criminal can be identified. We explored the different types of finding a criminal, such as blood typing and DNA analysis, fingerprinting and different ways of discovering the fingerprint, and trace evidence such as tire marks and different leads. After learning the content we then were assigned a fictional crime scene. My crime scene included a dead body, but just the bones, blood, insects, and fingerprints. With the knowledge that we gained in the beginning of the project we were expected to find out exactly what happened to the victim and the process of finding the criminal.
Through the analysis of the project we were given a various amount of tools in order to find information out about the crime scene. We focused throughout the project on Blood spatter, trajectory, blood typing, analysis of skeletal remains, DNA analysis. The information and tools that I gathered in the project helped determine the outcome of the project. In my crime scene I used all of the above to help find information. For example I used blood splatter analysis and DNA analysis to help determine who's blood was on the tip of the fingernails.
The forensic science that was most interesting to me was the Fingerprinting super glue fuming. I found this most interesting because I find it interesting how the law enforcement finds evidence like this to solve such big, meaningful crimes. I think that in this project I did a very good job with organization. This really came in handy when turning in the crime scene binder with all the project Information. One thing that I could have improved upon, was my communication with my partner, keeping him updated on his progress and the same with me.
